Delicious food, warm atmosphere, and great drinks — that’s the foundation of everything we do. For us, the word solitary represents not only the restaurant’s secluded location but also our commitment to following our own path and trusting our unique style and vision. We aim to offer our guests not only delicious food but also a first-class yet cozy atmosphere and service.
At the heart of what we do is collaboration with the local community. Rantasalmi and the surrounding areas are full of incredible skill and tradition in food production and preparation — this is where we draw our inspiration from. We work closely with local small producers, such as hunters, fishermen, and farmers. We receive small batches of local delicacies and design our menu according to what’s available at any given time. You can read more about our food here.
I spent my childhood fishing and exploring the nature of Rantasalmi and Lake Saimaa, which is where my deep appreciation for local ingredients comes from. My love of butter, however, stems from my French roots. While our main ingredients come from nearby, we don’t want to be confined strictly to a Nordic restaurant identity. Our food reflects a love of travel and the lessons learned from around the world. In addition to working in Finland’s top restaurants, I’ve also worked in some of Australia’s most highly regarded establishments and lived in Bali. I hope this is something you can both see and taste in my cooking.
Our restaurant is located within the Kuru Resort area, right next to the Nature Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän. However, we also welcome guests from outside the resorts — you’re warmly invited to visit, whether you’re coming from near or far. Please note that, as the entire Kuru Resort area is adults-only, our restaurant can serve only guests aged 18 and over.
A warm welcome,
Remi Trémouille
